Local Heroes: How The Irish Fared in 2007

On February 11th Headgear will release their new single 'To Heaven'. The track has been remixed for release and this new version will be available as a free download on that date and that date only from midnight to midnight on Headgear's MySpace page - you can download direct from the MySpace music player so remember to check in on the 11th to get your free copy. After the 11th the single will be available for cash money from all the usual online stores.

We feel obliged to reveal that the February 11th release date historically coincides with the following events: In 1963 Sylvia Plath, the American writer was highly successful in her suicide attempt; in 1990 Nelson Mandela, a political prisoner for 27 years, was freed from Victor Verster Prison outside Cape Town, South Africa; in 2006 U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney accidentally shot Harry Whittington in the face while the two were hunting together; in 2008 Barra got drunk; in 1847 Thomas Alva Edison the American inventor of the light-bulb was born and in 1879 Honoré Daumier, the French caricaturist and painter died - he would have been 200 this year - happy birthday Honoré. And as we all know February 11th is the Feast day of Our Lady of Lourdes, the Anniversary of Islamic Revolution in Iran, National Youth Day in Cameroon and National Inventors' Day in the United States. Happy days all the way down to heaven.

Headgear are working on a new "Mid-Western" flavoured album called 'Long Live The West – The West Is In Your Head', songs from which they will take to the road soon. The album is to be recorded in the Autumn.
